Day 4 Transfer to Kidepo National Park

After the early morning breakfast, we shall set off for another 7- 8 hour drive to Kidepo Valley National Park through Gulu, Kitgum districts and finally when we enter the park, straight away we shall ahead to Kidepo Savannah Lodge which will be our accommodation facility for the next two days of Africa like it was 50 years ago and have a rest as we look forward on the next adventurous packed day.

Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya, some 700km from Kampala. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species.

Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park, but the few who make the long journey north through the wild frontier region of Karamoja would agree that it is also the most magnificent, for Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses. From Apoka, in the heart of the park, a savannah landscape extends far beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons outlined by distant mountain ranges.

During the dry season, the only permanent water in the park is found in wetlands and remnant pools in the broad Narus Valley near Apoka. These seasonal oases, combined with the open, savannah terrain, make the Narus Valley the park’s prime game viewing location.

Accommodation; Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Day 5: Full day Game drive

Early in the morning just after our beautiful Karamajong breakfast, we shall head to our full day safari where you expect to have an eye on eye with the lots giant ostriches, striped and spotted hyena, Burchell’s Zebras, Rothchild’s Giraffes, Cape Buffaloes, bat-eared foxes, aardwolves, caracals, Cheetahs, and greater and lesser kudus. As the sunsets we shall hunt for the loins so as you might be able to take a picture of the king of the jungle lying on rock getting ready to hunt.

Day 6: Game drive as we head south to Moroto

After our Karamajong breakfast still, we shall head south to a town called Moroto also known as the Heart of Karamoja. Here you'll meet the Karamajong living in a Kraal, better known as Manyatta or Boma in Swahili. A Kraal is basically a village made out of huts surrounded by fences made of wood and thorns. These are put up to keep the cattle in and to protect them against rival tribes and wild animals. Some of the Kraals are permanent and others are temporarily for when they tail the fresh grass to feed the cattle. Be sure to enjoy lots of cultural education, music and dance. In other wards for this day one shouldn’t forget their dancing shoes.

Accommodation; Karamoja Safari Camp

Day 7 Moroto to Sipi Falls

After a night in kraal and having a traditional breakfast we shall continue south to foothills of mountain Elgon which is 1800m above the sea level home of the bagishu and sabini. It’s also known as the home of Arabic coffee in Uganda. This time we shall focus much on the beautiful Sipi falls. Here you will have an evening village walk. It is quite cool here compared to the other parts of Uganda with temperate weather conditions.

Accommodation; Sipi River Lodge

Day 8: Sipi Falls to Jinja (Source of the Nile)

Jinja lies on the shore of Lake Victoria, about 3 hours East from Kampala but with the fact that we are coming from northeast we shall need 4 to 5 hours to reach this town. Jinja is famously known because of its source of the Nile, which is the longest river on the African continent. On a Boat cruise to the source gives you a golden chance to watch as many bird species as possible and city life of this city is amazing.
